Kada je mladi Alan Pariš zajedno sa svojom prijateljicom Sarom odlučio zaigrati jednu društvenu igru, nije ni slutio da će ga bacanje kocke istog trena transportovati u čudnu džunglu Džumandži, gde će ostati zarobljen punih 26 godina. Tačnije, do dana kada će u potkrovlju njegove kuće dvoje siročadi, Džudi i Peter, poželeti zaigrati istu tu igru i tako osloboditi danas odraslog Alana iz unutrašnjeg sveta igre.
