Nastavak hita 'Čudesne zveri i kako ih naći' je dobio ime po glavnom negativcu prethodnog dela, čarobnjaku Grindelwaldu.
Nakon što je na kraju prethodnog filma zli mračni čarobnjak Grindelwald zarobljen te zatočen u MACUSA-i, Newt Scamander (Redmayne) mislio je da je svemu kraj. No ovaj zločinac je istog trena pokrenuo planove za beg.
U nastavku pratimo posledice tog bega te Grindelwaldovo pokretanje planova za uništenjem svega nemagičnog. Kako bi sprečio ovog monstruma u njegovom naumu, mladi Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) pozvaće svog bivšeg učenika Newta Scamandera u još jednu bitku protiv Grindewalda.
Odani prijatelji postaće izdajice, a porodice će se posvađati na smrt jednom kad čarobnjačka vatra krene vladati svetom.
